Outlaw singer Hank III goes beyond family tradition

It is a sure bet that those country music singers that call themselves outlaws would not be able to last 5 minutes at a Hank III concert. Last night, the grandson of Hank Williams, Sr., played to a packed house at Busters in Lexington, Ky.
If you expected for a full tribute to his father and grandfather, you would have been disappointed to see Hank III. Separating himself with his own style of music, Hank III defines who he is. He is not afraid of doing what he wants when he wants.
The blend of country twang and rock guitar licks made for an interesting blend. Fans sang along with hit songs such as “Long Hauls and Fast Calls,” “Ghost to a Ghost,” “Mississippi Mud,” “Tore Up and Loud,” and many more.
Hank III paid tribute to the Whites of West Virginia with his song “D Ray White.” Legendary rebel Jesco White is the original dancing outlaw and friend of Hank III. The tune is featured in the movie on the White Family.
Two cover songs came into play. Ever haunting was Hank III singing “The Ride,” made famous by David Allan Coe about Hank Williams, Sr. The band shined when they played “Orange Blossom Special.”
Hank III knows his fan base and along with his band, knows how to entertain. With over two hours of country influenced songs followed by a more metal set, made the fans know their money was well worth spent.
